Faculty Pediatric Dermatologist

University of Iowa

The University of Iowa Department of Dermatology is seeking a general medical dermatologist and a pediatric dermatologist to join its growing faculty. These positions offer excellent work-life balance and flexibility and can be tailored based on each candidate’s clinical interests and area of focus.

The department offers a highly collaborative, well-resourced academic environment with strong clinical support, allowing physicians to focus on patient care while also pursuing academic, research, or program-building interests. There is meaningful opportunity to shape and grow clinical areas of interest, including pediatric dermatology, within a major tertiary care setting.

Opportunity Highlights:

Tailor your role with a standard appointment of 80% clinical and 20% academic/research time.
Prioritize outpatient clinical care, with options to engage in consultative inpatient dermatology if desired. Pediatric dermatology candidates will have opportunities to collaborate across pediatric subspecialties.
Expect 7 half-day clinics per week (28 patient hours), split between the main campus dermatology clinic and the Iowa River Landing clinic. Flexibility to structure clinic time based on individual interests, including pediatric dermatology. Flexibility to increase clinic hours with additional compensation.
Opportunity to incorporate procedural dermatology, including in-office procedures and dedicated procedural time, based on individual interest.
Standard inpatient rotation is 1:12, with pediatric dermatology consult opportunities available for those with interest or expertise.
Experience a wide variety of cases, including complex and rare dermatologic conditions, within Iowa’s only academic, tertiary care hospital and affiliated children’s hospital.
Share night and weekend call on a 1:16 rotation, with minimal night duties and light weekend rounds.
