Cases of the Year
Sam Weinberg's Cases of the Year include cases with interesting or unusual diagnoses, diseases that were difficult to diagnose, or cases presenting management challenges. These cases should have attendant teaching value. Twenty cases will be selected for live presentation at the SPD's 51st Annual Meeting, to be held July 22-25 in Minneapolis.
Cases in Search of a Diagnosis
Three challenging cases will be chosen to participate in the Cases in Search of a Diagnosis panel at the meeting. The case submitter will give a quick overview of the case, after which it will be discussed by a panel of experts. These cases should be submitted through the same process as Cases of the Year. Photos and a pathology report are required uploads. Cases will be selected by the program directors.
Poster Presentations
Research studies may be submitted as poster presentations. Accepted poster abstracts may be published in an upcoming issue of Pediatric Dermatology.
New This Year - Patient Advocacy Group Posters
SPD has established a new “Patient Advocacy Group” poster category to expand the range of perspectives and resources available to attendees at SPD 2026. If you collaborate with a patient advocacy organization that would benefit from this visibility, we encourage you to submit a brief abstract describing the group and explaining how its mission aligns with that of SPD. Up to 10 posters will be selected for display in a dedicated “Patient Advocacy Group Village.” If selected, the meeting attendee affiliated with the organization will be responsible for printing and installing the poster in the assigned space.
Travel Awards - Available to Trainees and Medical Students
The SPD will provide six Travel Awards for the 2026 Annual Meeting at $1,000 each – three will be awarded to accepted case presentations; and three will be awarded to poster presentations. You must be an SPD member to be eligible for a Travel Award. To apply, select the checkbox at the time of submission. Once the final selections for presentation are made, SPD's Awards Committee will determine the winners.
One additional $1,000 Travel Award sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Dermatology is available to dermatology residents, pediatric dermatology fellows, or medical students who present a poster. To be considered, submissions must be high-quality abstracts focused on pediatric dermatology education, workforce, Medical Home, or collaboration with pediatrician partners. To apply for the award, select the checkbox at the time of submission. Once the final selections for presentation are made, AAP's Section on Dermatology will determine the winner.
