Casa Loma
Casa Loma is one of Toronto’s premier historic attractions. Originally home to Canadian financier, industrialist and military officer, Sir Henry Pellatt, the castle is curated to offer everyone a unique perspective on life in Toronto and North America in the early 20th Century. Toronto’s Castle is full of secret passages to explore; soaring towers to climb, with views of the cityscape. Traverse the 800ft. underground tunnel photo exhibit and gain perspective on the darker side of life and history of early 20th century Canadian life.
The bus will leave the Sheraton at 2 pm, and return at approximately 5 pm. You will be able to explore the castle and grounds at your own pace.
Toronto Islands
Toronto Island Park is located in Lake Ontario, a 13-minute ferry ride from downtown Toronto. Kids and adults of all ages can find something to do or see on the Island. There are swimming beaches, sports facilities, bike, canoe and kayak rentals, a boating marina, large grassy fields for picnics, a theatre, nature paths, an amusement park, and a charming 150 year-old community of 600 people living year-round in cottage-like homes. You can walk, run or take your bike on the island, visit the 200 year old lighthouse or the trout pond or have a coffee or beer at one of the restaurants.
The bus will leave the Sheraton at 2 pm and take you to the ferry station. You can then explore the Island on your own. The bus will return to the Sheraton from the ferry station at 5:30 pm; or you are welcome to return at your leisure.
McMichael Gallery
Located on 100 acres of forested land along the Humber River, the McMichael is a major public gallery uniquely devoted to collecting the art of Canada. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is located on the original lands of the Ojibwe Anishinaabe and Huron-Wendat People. It is uniquely situated along the Carrying Place Trail which historically provided an integral connection for Indigenous people between Ontario’s Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe-Georgian Bay Region. The McMichael’s permanent collection consists of over 7,000 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of Canadian art.
The bus will leave the Sheraton at 2 pm. Please note, travel time is approximately one hour each way; and this tour will return to the Sheraton around 6:30 pm. While at the gallery, there will be a one hour guided tour, plus time to explore the grounds.
Distillery District
The Distillery District is a commercial and residential district east of downtown, which contains numerous cafés, restaurants, and shops housed within heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. The 13 acres district comprises more than forty heritage buildings and ten streets, and is the largest collection of Victorian-era industrial architecture in North America.
A bus will run between the Sheraton and Distillery District at throughout the afternoon, and you can explore the area at your leisure.
